A delegation of New York City Police Department and United States Consulate General in Lahore comprising of Detective Elvis Vukelj, Lieutenant Adeel Rana, Mrs. Rachael J Chen, Public Affairs Officer and Mr. Sultan J Qureshi, Cultural Affairs Assistant arrived in UMT to deliver a talk on “The role of NYPD in development of safer American Neighborhoods”.
Mr. Ibrahim Qazi was master of the ceremony who presented the profound gratitude of Prof. Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad to welcome the guests at UMT. Mr. Qazi introduced the audience which comprised of School of Law and Policy and School of Governance and Society at UMT to the American delegation and cherished UMT's relationship with the United States Consulate General in Lahore.
Prof. Rahat ul Ain, Director School of Governance and Society welcomed the distinguished guests from United States and gave significant information about the seven decades old partnership between Pakistan and United States of America. Detective Vukelj in his remarks reflected upon the sense of belonging with the American community resident in the respective jurisdictions of NYPD. Lieutenant Adeel Rana expressed his views about the participation of Muslim Police Officers and their role to promote harmony within the folds of diversified American society. Mrs. Rachael J Chen, Public Affairs Officer at USCG Lahore expressed her views on the importance of exchange programs sponsored by the Department of State that is a harbinger of positive change in different walks of life. Prof. Sohail Ahmad, a long time serving bureaucrat and now a senior scholar at School of Governance and Society UMT gave his concluding remarks.
In Q&A session the participants of UMT interacted with speakers on various issues concerning exchange programs, the elements of policing in a society and the initiatives of NYPD currently in pipeline for the development of communities. At the end, Mr. Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Director UMT presented mementos to honor the American delegation for visiting the University of Management and Technology. The participants had an intriguing interaction with the audience during the luncheon followed by the talk. (Makhooz)
